maija Talikka
Maija Talikka is currently the Director of Marketing for Urbanspace and the City Executive for the DMV, leading the curation and operations for Urbanspace Tysons. Urbanspace took over the sprawling multi-vendor food hall atop the third floor of Tysons Galleria at the end of 2018. After a nearly two-year hiatus during the Covid-19 pandemic, Urbanspace Tysons is reopening in March 2022. Urbanspace operates nearly a dozen food halls and seasonal markets in New York City, DMV, and Chicago and with several more under development.
Before landing at Urbanspace in 2019, Maija was the Marketing & Communications Director for the food service contractor at the National Institutes of Health. She began her career in NYC as the General Manager of a Champagne-centric concept where she revitalized the company before opening its first international location in Paris, France. During a few years in San Diego, she dabbled in non-profit business development, opened another champagne-centric restaurant, and was a wine-broker of high-end wines.
As a long-time industry professional, Maija has seen how a culture that’s rife with substance abuse allowed for the silent suffering of countless colleagues and friends. She is passionate about partnering with Second Genesis Foundation to offer help, resources, and advocacy for their mission.
Maija moved to the DMV region in 2015 with her now-husband and enjoys life with him and their two young girls.
